The Royal Wedding

I must admit I was getting really tired of hearing all the talk before the wedding "The big question is what designer's dress will she be wearing?" How about you stop worrying about that, and just let them get married, and we'll all find out all the details on their big day!!

This morning Melissa and I woke up at 3:30AM to watch the Royal Wedding. Well we soon found out that the ceremony wasn't going to start until 6AM, so we watched some pre-wedding footage, then decided to go to Krispy Kreme and get some doughnuts. Luckily Krispy Kreme is open 24 hours. This was my 1st time having a Krispy Kreme doughnut fresh out of the oven. They're delicious!! By the time we got back, it was almost 5AM. So we continued watching the news reporters fill us in on what to expect. I thought it was funny that people were having Royal Wedding viewing parties, some in bars, some in houses. One we saw in FL were women dressed in their nightgowns and tiara's. It was pretty funny. Before we knew it, the ceremony began. The wedding was beautiful!! I must say, I don't know how Prince Charles and Kate got through the wedding without smiling. I know I would not have been able to do that!! I liked seeing all different the hats the women were wearing. After the ceremony, while we were waiting for the bride and groom to stand on the balcony and kiss, Melissa and I fell asleep for a little bit, haha!! We were tired!!! Luckily Melissa woke up right as they were standing on the balcony. After we saw the kiss, we went back to bed.

I think it's funny how some people on facebook are saying they're disappointed with Prince William & Kate's kisses. Well, they're not about to have a big make out session in front of millions of people!!! I'm glad their kisses were better than Prince Charles and Princess Diana's quick peck.

This week

On Tuesday, I started another Bible Study. There are 8 women, 6 of the women are from the 1st Bible Study I did. The first lesson was great, and I'm looking forward to all the others!! :)

Kevin's ship went back out to sea Wednesday morning, (he'll return May 13th). Check out the beautiful sunrise, as we were driving to the ship:

Wednesday afternoon my friend Melissa moved in. I helped her pack up her house last week, because Melissa & her husband will be moving at the end of this year or early next year (the Navy hasn't told them where they'll be going next), plus her husband is currently out to sea too, so we are having a 3 week long slumber party!! Woot woot!!! Tonight we are going to watch some thursday night t.v. then wake up early tomorrow morning and watch the Royal Wedding!

Who remembers this song:

I remember singing this song as a kid at church. I'm not sure why, but I started singing it the other day, and not only is it a song for children, it's a good song & reminder for teens and adults too!!

Philippians 2:1-11
1 If you have any encouragement from being
united with Christ, if any comfort from his love,
if any fellowship with the Spirit,
if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make
my joy complete by being like minded, having
the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain
conceit, but in humility consider other better
than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not
only to your own interests, but also to the interests
of others.
"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God
             something to be grasped,
7 but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
       being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
        he humbled himself
        and became obedient to death--
            even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest
               place
and gave him the name that is above
              every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee
               should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the
               earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ
               is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."

Happy Resurrection Day!!!

Sure everyone says Happy Easter, but do you really think about what Jesus did on the cross for us, and rising from the dead, when you say Happy Easter? I don't. When I hear Happy Easter I think of the Easter bunny carrying a basket of eggs and candy. But I will admit, that as I write this, I am eating Easter candy.

Have a blessed resurrection day!!
John 11:25-26
Jesus said," I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."

This video below is graphic, it's clips from the movie Passion Of The Christ.

.

I must admit, one of the hymns I miss singing is "Up From The Grave He Arose"

However, one of the songs we sang at Church this morning was "In Christ Alone"  -love this song!!

Easter Eve 4/23/11

Ok so instead of doing the beach clean up today, Kevin and I helped Melissa and Jonathan put their boxes in their storage container that's sitting in their driveway. Yes, they're packing up their stuff and waiting to hear where the U.S. Navy is going to send Jonathan (Melissa is going with him) for his next duty station. After our hard day of work, we all went to the Vietnamese Restaurant, that I've mentioned in a previous post, for dinner. I even tried Vietnamese desserts!! One was coconut milk with jello and beans. I liked it, but I probably wouldn't have been able to eat the whole thing. I don't remember exactly what was in the other one, but I didn't like it as much as the first one.
Jonathan and Melissa had also mentioned that they had tokens from an arcade, and asked us if we wanted to go play arcade games. Of course we said yes!! I doubt that either of us would have turned that offer down, unless we weren't feeling well or something. So after dinner we went to the arcade (this place has a water park, go carts, mini golf, an arcade & real alligators!!!!)!! First we played some miniature golf and Kevin won. I of course lost, but hey I have to mention that I did get 1 hole in 1!!!! I was very excited about that!!! After that we headed to the arcade games!!! We played ski ball, shooting games, air hockey, a water squirting racing game, car racing games, basketball hoops game....I think that was it. Well the 4 of us managed to win 207 tickets, so you know we had to get some prizes!! We ended up getting a flying helicopter (the guys were excited about that, it was 150 tickets) sticky hand grabber, an awkwardly shaped rubber dolphin with red eyes. Well what we didn't know until we opened it was that the helicopter had a blue L.E.D. light on it, which made it even cooler!!!! After we got our prizes we went and got some frozen yogurt. YUMMY!!!!!!!  After that we headed back to our place, and tested out the helicopter.

I am pretty sure we all felt like kids again!!

Happy Good Friday & Happy Earth Day!!!

This morning since it's Earth Day, I went to the trails behind our development, and picked up some trash. When I reached this pier, I saw this bird. I took this picture on my cell phone, so really, the bird was closer to me than it appears. Tomorrow Melissa and I are also participating in a beach clean-up.

Today at noon Melissa and I went to a Good Friday Church Service (not at our regular church), we both enjoyed the service. For some reason most of the churches here don't have a Thursday evening or Good Friday service. So when Melissa asked if I wanted to go to a Good Friday service, I didn't think twice about saying "Yes!"

I picked up Kevin late last night, so he is now here!! :)

Lately

Last Friday morning Kevin left for his 1st week out to sea. He comes back on the 21st, will be here for Easter, then goes back out to sea the Monday after Easter, until May 13th. So far I haven't heard from Kevin since he left, but I'm doing good. I know that his ship is doing tests and getting ready for their deployment in August, so I know Kevin's schedule will be crazy these next few months, but that's the military, they don't have a set schedule.

Later Friday morning, I headed to Savannah, GA to visit my friend Adrienne. For those of you who were
at our wedding, Adrienne sang the solo.  This was my 1st time to Savannah and I loved it!!!!
The beautiful square outside of Adrienne's dorm

Saturday we went to the beach, and well it was windy.
Do you see our beach towels?

Here we are!!!

Adrienne's Church

Her Church is kinda famous. So you know the movie, Forrest Gump? Well in the opening scene, when the feather is floating, there's a church steeple, well guess what?! It's Adrienne's church's steeple!!! Also Woodrow Wilson was married at this church!! Pretty cool, huh? Well at least I think so!!

When I came home today, Buddy greeted me at the door and started meowing like crazy. I think what his meow's were really saying were,"Where have you been?"  He's been following me around all evening, and is enjoying all the attention. I indeed missed Buddy too. Luckily our place was not torn apart.  :)

My friend Emily, who I've been friends with since we were 2 years old, got married the same month and year that Kevin and I did. Her husband is in the U.S. Army and has been in Afghan-land for 1 year, and is coming home TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SO EXCITED for them!!!!!!!!!!

Government shutdown?

So for those of you who know me really well, you all know that I don't like politics stuff. Yeah I know I should be more interested, yes even my family has told me so, but the way I see it....can we say snooze-fest?!?! Well  I must admit I'm kinda nervous about this whole possible government shutdown. I especially don't like that the news channel has a countdown until midnight tonight, for the decision. I have a feeling the government is going to shutdown. I just keep reminding myself that God is in control and to continue to pray for this situation. I also wanted to share these pictures with you:

Dear Congress,
Before stopping Military pay, you might want to think about
what you have trained us to do.
Sincerely,
A Proud Solider

Dear Congress,
Can you explain why your job is more deserving of a paycheck than ours?
Sincerely,
A Proud Solider

Buddy's a big boy

Today I bought Buddy a "big boy" collar. He is on his last notch of his kitten collar. His big boy collar is eco-friendly. The webbing on it is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.

For a little while now, Kevin has mentioned getting Buddy a harness and leash, so we can walk him, because every time we open our front door, Buddy comes running. Sometimes he will sneak out, but don't worry, he doesn't go far. So I figured for an early Easter gift, I bought a harness and a leash. After dinner we took Buddy on a little walk in our cul-de-sac. Here's how that went.....

And then one of Buddy's siblings show up (we think it's a girl)

Kevin won't let me take her in too. He says 1 is enough, haha!!
I think it would be neat, because it would be a brother and a sister,
not two random cats, you know?

So far no sign of my license yet.

Stormy morning.

This morning Buddy was watching the weather on tv. He wanted to know when the thunderstorms would be over.

This morning I went to the dentist, post office & grocery shopping. All before 11AM!!
I'm ready for a nap. Haha!! Luckily by the time I went out the thunderstorms were just
about over.

So far I have not received my cosmetology license yet.

Soul Surfer

Yesterday Melissa, Kevin & I went to a special screening of the movie Soul Surfer. As I mentioned in the last post, Melissa and I got the special screening tickets when we volunteered for a beach clean up. I didn't know too much about Bethany Hamilton. My Aunt Lois, who lives in Hawaii, messaged me and told me, "We saw a clip last week at the HIM conference (Hawaiian Island Ministries) in Honolulu and Bethany Hamilton was there and spoke briefly. One of our pastors, Rick Bundschuh, wrote the book with her. As a Kauai girl, she is well known to the surfers in our church."  Soul Surfer is a great movie, and I highly recommend you all see it!!

The movie comes out April 8th.
